Designing eyebrows that suit your face doesn’t just mean working with the shape of your face. I’ll excuse my lovely lady below from showing you the eyebrow design photos where I have her frowning, but we do don’t we, faces don’t stay still. The eyebrow shape that may suit you when you’re frozen faced, say a brow with the arch more towards the end of the brow, won’t look too natural if your brow muscles move with the arch in the middle. Oh and wiggly as you think, talk or smile… heck I’ll have you frowning loads, till I see I’ve drawn the shape right before tattooing it
Amusingly, after a while of tattooing your brows, and the numbing cream kicking in, the muscles move less and we get to see the shapes better, and I’ll do a final check before letting you go. My lady below ended up with tight little brows, and why you’ll see her original tattoo looks bigger yet is hidden by the smaller fresh tattoo. It’s skin we’re playing with, and skin does things as it’s being worked, the skin can tighten or expand. And seeing as it’s shapes I’m drawing, all this has to be taken into account

Healed Semi Permanent Makeup Tattoos
It’s very valuable for you to see healed photos of my work, simply because it’s the healed version you’ll be walking around in. You may have seen me mention that I’ve tattoos myself, my face has semi permanent makeup, my body has permanent tattoos. I’m not one for showing my art online, the most you get to see is a photo at the bottom of the Things & Ink magazine blog post. I’m not a tattooist in the conventional sense as I only draw shapes, not art, but know that within the tattoo community it’s frowned upon to have a whole portfolio of work only showing freshly done tattoos
The healed photos I show you are either healed from the first session, or fully healed. If it’s a first visit healed photo you’ll see that I’ll write ‘topped up with more colour’, so you can see how much colour has stayed in, or not, from the first visit. The other healed photos are where the client has kindly returned especially to let me take photos, or they’ve come back to have another area tattooed and I get to take healed photos of their previous work. If you look through previous blog posts you’ll be able to match up most clients other photos
In the case of my lovely lady with the scar running through her eyebrow, I asked if she could return after a few months so I could see how it healed. She was please, so was I. After the first visit a fair amount of pigment stayed in the scar, but I’m pleased to see that months later she still had a good volume of colour in the scar and that should now stay for a good few months more before starting to fade
